Bristol Bears Director of Rugby Pat Lam visited City Academy to deliver a special assembly to students as part of the club’s strategic partnership with Cabot Learning Federation (CLF).

Lam delivered a talk about his career and the four Ps that he has used to find success in his personal and professional life: Purpose, People, Perseverance and Performance.

The Cabot Learning Federation is a family of 35 schools in Bristol, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Somerset, covering 18,000 young people in the city from a wide range of backgrounds and demographics.

⁠⁠As part of the club’s strategy to identify talent, attract new supporters and deliver positive engagement within the community, the partnership with CLF includes matchday visits, school visits and inter-school open days and tournaments.

More than 60 girls from four schools come together for Bristol Bears Community Foundation’s Project Rugby Festival at Lockleaze Sports Centre, supported by Gallagher UK.

Pupils from Bristol Free School, Merchants Academy, Ashton Park School and Oasis Academy Brislington enjoyed an action-packed day of rugby games to celebrate the conclusion of the six-week programme.

Bristol Bears Women prop Simi Pam brought some star power to the festival, taking part in a Q&A session with the girls about her rugby journey before posing for selfies and signing autographs

Project Rugby is Premiership Rugby’s award-winning participation programme run in partnership with England Rugby and Gallagher UK, which aims to introduce young people to rugby.

It provides accessible opportunities for young people who wouldn’t normally play rugby to try it so they can experience the multitude of benefits that come from playing and stimulate a lifelong interest in the game.

Bristol Bears players joined pupils from six Cabot Learning Federation schools to celebrate World Book Day 2025 with a morning of reading sessions.

Tom Gwilliam, Kofi Cripps, Harry Rowson, Sam Worsley, Paddy Pearce and Jimmy Halliwell visited Evergeen Primary Academy, Snowdon Village, Frome Vale Academy, Begbrook Academy, Summerhill Academy and Minerva Academy.

The Bears enjoyed a range of literacy-focused activities at the schools, including one-on-one reading sessions where pupils had the opportunity to read to the players.

Players also took part in group story time where they read aloud to pupils and interactive Q&A sessions, with the visits concluding with autograph signing and selfies.

This collaboration between Bristol Bears and Cabot Learning Federation is part of recently launched strategic partnership aimed at growing rugby in the region.

Bristol Bears Community Foundation’s star-studded Girls Only camp at North Bristol RFC set a new record attendance this February half-term.

The sold-old camp attracted almost 100 youngsters to the club in Gloucester Road, Almondsbury – a new record for the Foundation’s Girls Only camps.
