Bristol Bears are delighted to launch a new free matchday car sharing service, powered by Join My Journey.

The platform will allow fans to save money on fuel and car parking costs while also enabling some fans to attend who may otherwise struggle to get to the game.

Fans simply need to visit joinmyjourney, register and then join the ‘hub’ for the Bristol Bears Home Games. You then upload your journey for the matchday and indicate whether you are a looking for a lift or if you are a driver with a spare seat. The platform creates a community of fans in each hub and enables you to contact someone who may be able to share your journey – you can even use it if you’re looking for someone to travel with on foot, bike or public transport.

The service will be trialled for our home game vs Gloucester (Friday, September 27th) – click the link here to go to the Bears travel hub.

Join My Journey has been commissioned by Bristol City Council, working with Travelwest and South Gloucestershire Council.

Group Head of Change and Sustainability Peter Smith said: “We’re acutely aware that some fans have found matchday travel increasingly difficult. Public bus cuts, the Clean Air Zone and the costs of driving have created barriers for some people to attend matchdays and we’re really keen that no-one is excluded from attending Bears games. We strongly encourage as many people as possible to sign-up to make this a success.”

Councillor Tony Dyer, Leader of Bristol City Council, said: “We’re delighted the club have opted to use Join My Journey to bring fans together for matchdays. Initiatives like this can provide a valuable service to fans and help make matchdays more fun and accessible. As an important city partner, it’s encouraging to see the club take such a proactive and meaningful approach to help us, as a city, meet our climate goals alongside prioritising a positive experience for fans.”

Fans can also visit Getting Here – Bristol Bears Rugby for a full range of travel options for home match days. The page includes details of free parking at Park and Ride sites, public bus options, rail information, cycle routes as well as helpful journey planning tools.

Important note: the platform does not verify identification from any user and it is for the individual to make whatever checks they feel necessary to protect their personal safety. You may wish to request a copy of your travel partner’s ID, meet at a prior match before sharing your journey or inform a friend/family of any journey/vehicle information before travelling. The club and stadium do not accept any responsibility for journeys planned through Join My Journey and strongly encourage all users to take relevant safety precautions. The platform includes a Report function should you experience any problems.
