Academy Transition Coach Glen Townson is taking on a mammoth Big Day Out challenge ahead of May’s West Country derby against Bath in Cardiff, as he runs from Ashton Gate to the Principality Stadium to raise money for the Amber Townson Foundation, setup in memory of his daughter.
Following his herculean effort at the Welsh Ironman in the summer of 2024, Townson will now take on the 46-mile run to raise vital charity funds for the Foundation, which supports families affected by Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC).
The Amber Townson Foundation was setup in loving memory of Amber, a joyful and vibrant child who tragically passed away from SUDC. Faced with unimaginable loss, Amber’s family turned their grief into action, determined to prevent other families from enduring the same heartbreak.
The charity aims to raise awareness and drive research efforts to ensure no parent endures the heartbreak of losing a child without reason.
Townson said: “The collaboration with the club exemplifies the power of community coming together to support a worthy cause. This event is testament to the strength and compassion of the Bristol sporting community.
Inspiration and hope, this ultramarathon is more than just a physical feat; it’s a symbol of resilience, hope, and the unwavering determination to make a difference. It’s a story that will hopefully resonate with readers and viewers, inspiring them to take action.”
