The Great Run Company is teaming up with the Bristol Sport Group foundations as it prepares to host what is set to be the biggest ever AJ Bell Great Bristol Run on 10 and 11 May 2025.

A unique multi-sport group, Bristol Sport Group comprises five teams across professional football, rugby and basketball, including Bristol City FC (men and women’s teams), Bristol Bears RFC (men and women’s teams) and the Bristol Flyers basketball team – each of which has its own community foundation. Runners will be taking part in the AJ Bell Great Bristol Run 10k and half-marathon events to raise funds and awareness for the Bristol Sport Group’s community foundations and team representatives will also be on hand to encourage younger runners taking part in the brand new Junior and Mini event.

Billed as ‘Super Saturday’, on 10th May the new Junior & Mini event will see Minis (aged 3-8) running a 1.5km loop and Juniors (aged 8-15) facing a 2.5k challenge.

The new partnership with the Great Run Company is being driven by ‘One Group. One Goal.’ – a Bristol Sport initiative that combines the efforts of the Bristol Bears Community Foundation, Bristol City Robins Foundation and the Bristol Flyers Community in partnership with Bristol Sport Foundation to help tackle deep-rooted inequalities faced by children, young people and their communities across Bristol.

Paul Foster, CEO at the Great Run Company, said: “The values of the Bristol Sport Group community foundations very much align with our own and we’re delighted to partner such a high profile sporting group in the city as the AJ Bell Great Bristol Run continues to grow. Look out for some famous faces from across Bristol Sport’s teams throughout the weekend!”

Bristol Sport Foundation CEO Sarah Mortiboys, speaking on behalf of all the Foundations, added: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with The Great Run Company for the first time this year. The AJ Bell Great Bristol Run is a hugely popular event in the city, and is a fantastic opportunity for our local communities, families and businesses alike to unite, champion and support the great charity work that is so important to all of us. We’d love as many people to join our team at the start line, so we can create a better future for all, through the power of sport.”

Well known for its inclusive, buzzing atmosphere, the crowds of supporters – together with live music and entertainment throughout the course – the AJ Bell Great Bristol Run draws runners from a range of ages, backgrounds and abilities. With many runners taking part for charity, millions of pounds are raised every year for causes including the Bristol Sport Group community foundations.
