Bath Half Marathon runners have raised over £1,500 to support the vital work of Bristol City Robins Foundation, Bristol Bears Community Foundation and Bristol Sport Foundation.

A team of five runners crossed the finish line for the Bristol Sport Group Charities with all money raised helping to tackle the deep rooted inequalities faced by children, young people and their communities across the city of Bristol.

Bristol City’s Social Media Manager Ryan Morgan took on the challenge as his first half marathon, sharing:

“Having worked for Bristol City for several years, I have seen the impact that the three foundations have on our local community first hand. I am particularly passionate about their social inclusion sessions that provide a friendly, accessible environment for young people at risk of anti-social behaviour to engage in sport. As a huge football fan myself, I believe everyone deserves a safe space to play, no matter their background.

“Knowing that I could support these sessions whilst achieving a personal goal really motivated me. The atmosphere on race day was unmatched and I’m proud to have completed my first half marathon.

“I’d encourage anyone to get involved in these kinds of events. Not only are you part of a supportive community of runners during the race but the feeling of crossing that finishing line knowing that every mile you’ve run has made a positive difference is unmatched.”

The money raised by the five runners will be used to directly support young people in areas of deprivation to participate in sport and physical activity by reducing the financial barriers.

Bristol Sport Foundation CEO Sarah Mortiboys, speaking on behalf of all the foundations, said:

“A huge thank you to everyone who took on the challenge of the Bath Half yesterday in support of three charities! Your dedication, energy, and incredible fundraising efforts will make a real difference to the lives of young people and families across our city. By coming together, we can create opportunities, break down barriers, and change lives through the power of sport.

“If you’re feeling inspired, there are plenty more opportunities to get involved in our event series challenges, from running to adventure races.
